High-Availability Streaming Platform

Architected a highly available, fault-tolerant streaming platform for a media company. The system's distributed infrastructure and optimized content delivery network achieved 99.99% uptime and a 40% month-over-month growth in subscribers.

The Business & The Problem

The client is an indie cinema streaming service based in Seattle, Washington. They curate a premium library of classic and independent films. Their existing streaming site was prone to heavy buffering, video streaming failures on mobile devices, and suffered from a complex subscription system that made it hard for film enthusiasts to subscribe. With their subscriber base growing, they needed a fault-tolerant, high-performance streaming architecture capable of delivering lag-free video content globally while simplifying their recurring subscription tiers.

Our Engineering Approach

We designed a highly resilient, modern Video Streaming and Subscription Platform. We established a distributed multi-region Content Delivery Network (CDN) to cache and stream video files, ensuring that videos start playing instantly regardless of where the viewer is located. For authentication and user management, we integrated Firebase, offering secure single-sign-on (SSO). We then wired up a subscription flow using Stripe Billing, complete with a customer billing portal where users can manage their subscription tiers, update credit cards, and download invoices independently. We crafted the interface using Tailwind CSS and Framer Motion, delivering a dark-dominant, immersive cinema-like design.
